Psarou Beach

Psarou Beach is the most exclusive stretch of sand in Greece, and arguably in the entire Mediterranean — a small, south-facing sheltered cove of fine golden sand where a floating community of superyachts anchors just 50 metres offshore throughout the summer season, and where the Nammos Beach Club has established itself as the benchmark against which all luxury beach clubs worldwide are measured. The atmosphere here is unlike anything at any other beach in Greece: Bulgari, Dior, and Rolls-Royce have all hosted events at Nammos; the bill for a table of four for lunch, with lobster, Champagne, and a shared bottle of Petrus, routinely exceeds €2,000.

The beach itself is 250 metres of immaculate sand, kept in pristine condition by the Nammos team who rake it every morning before the sunbeds are arranged. The water is some of the calmest and clearest on Mykonos — the bay's south-facing orientation and protective headlands on both sides create a natural harbour where the Aegean swells are completely neutralised. Snorkelling over the rocky reef at the eastern end reveals sea urchins, octopus, and the occasional small barracuda. The depth increases quickly beyond the first 20 metres, which is why the superyachts can anchor so close to shore.

Access to Psarou is technically free — it's a public beach — but arriving without a Nammos reservation effectively means standing on a narrow strip of free sand watching the sunbed holders being served sushi and rosé 3 metres away. Reservations at Nammos are taken from late April for the season and fill quickly for July and August. The minimum spend per person varies but is typically €150–200 for lunch service.

Getting there: 10 minutes by road from Mykonos Town via Ornos (well-signposted). Parking is extremely limited in July–August — take a taxi or scooter. Water taxis also run from Platys Gialos. Best time to visit: June and early September for a more relaxed version of the Psarou experience, with lower minimum spends and same-day Nammos reservations more achievable.
